If there’s anything we need right now as smoggy days usher in winter (wtf), it’s a little fantasy to go with all this hardcore reality. Aw, reality ain't so bad, but still, it's nice to get away:
- The paintings in Vitaly Medvedovsky’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Trolls romp through reassembled memory to find the bizarre and amusing, the real and the dreamy, at Galerie Push (5264 St-Laurent Blvd.), 7 p.m., to Jan. 10.
- The Canadian Centre for Architecture launches into outer spaaace with Intermission: Films from an Heroic Future - an exhibition of films on speed and space from the archives of NASA, the National Film Board of Canada, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and UbuWeb. Vernissage tonight 8 to 11 p.m., with DJs Alix and Janek Bishop, video projections from Brille Brille and live music from locals Chinatown (9 p.m.), at the CCA (1920 Baile).
- Stripping and comedy? DeAnne Smith hosts Stand Up/Strip Down, pitting ha-has with ta-tas at Katacombes (1635 St-Laurent Blvd.), 8:30 p.m.
- Do a little installation-art window shopping (but not buying, though one could always inquire) as Tendermorsels, Parlour Treats and more put on Under Glass Eye, a show for passers-by, at Monastiraki (5478 St-Laurent Blvd.), 8:30 p.m.
- And dancehall duo Bonjay make us sweat with Valeo and Suprfosslpowr, at Divan Orange (4234 St-Laurent Blvd.).
